If you are looking for a great wine and olive oil tour, look no further! We visited Fattoria Colle Verde, and our tour guide was so knowledgeable! She fielded every question we had easily.
The drive up there is spectacular, as are the views from the grounds. Read more (Just take the drive slowly, as the roads are narrow.) Up the hill behind the place, you can see a tower of a church that dates back to the 11th century. You overlook the vineyards and olive groves. The groves have trees that are hundreds of years old.
We saw where they produced their olive oil, and our guide explained how they've gone back to the basics, not using insecticides or chemical fertilizers. We got to tour where they put the wine in casks and barrels to ferment and age.
Then came the tasting and light lunch. We started with very nice white, which we had while eating Tuscan bread with their olive oil, ash's fresh vegetables. Delicious! Next came one of their red wines with cannellini beans and pecorino cheese. Then we had their reserved red wine (the one we ended up buying) with selection of sliced salumi, made by a 90 year-old man in there town up the hill. We finished up with a light lemon cake.
You can't beat the meal and wine, paired with the view. And the people there are so nice! I highly recommend a trip to this beautiful vineyard before leaving Tuscany.

Wij werden op Fattoria Colle Verde enorm gastvrij ontvangen. Voordat wij een rondleiding kregen over het proces van druif tot wijn en van olijf tot het groene goud hebben we een proeverij gehad van 3 hele mooie wijnen inclusief Italiaanse delicatessen. Daarnaast hebben we ook de olijfolie geproefd ! Wat een prachtig bedrijf op een prachtige locatie in het Toscaanse landschap. Een aanrader om dit bedrijf , met deze mensen die zeer veel passie hebben voor hun producten, te bezoeken.

This was my second visit to Fattoria Colle Verde and my husband's first. Cristina was an excellent tour guide, very pleasant and informative. The setting is spectacular up in the hills with a view over the valley which you are able to enjoy while tasting Read more the wines. You can have charcuterie or an entire lunch. They also offer cooking classes. If we didn't have a house nearby, I would absolutely rent one of their cottages for the entire experience. Add to all of this excellent wines, we particularly enjoyed the red wines. Very reasonable for such an incredible experience.
